The game doesn’t lend itself to having a constant sound track so I am tempted to try making one on the fly, with parts of an overall soundtrack starting when there’s violence and a zombie near by. I am currently deciding on the sounds in game and may record my own samples and see how they work and how I can implement it into the game. It may well not work out as I think but I am willing to give it a try at least.
The main bulk of the noise will be from the weapons, zombies and the environment. With very little from the main character, other than possibly key phrases and vocalised thoughts (like picking up a weapon). I’d rather avoid making the character the main focus of the game as it’s easier to make assumptions on events depicted in the game.
