Inspiration

My inspiration for this game comes from three main sources. The Zombie movies that have been made over the years, such great ones as Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, and the latest  Zombieland. The games that have also turned their hands at the genera such as Stubbs the Zombie, Left 4 Dead and House of the Dead series. All of them have taken different ideas and created some truly unique games based about the undead. Then finally GTA by DMA design which was a key game at the time for it’s ground breaking and controversial game play.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

With the game Left 4 Dead it has opened the worlds eyes to the possible fun to be had with the undead horde and online co-operation. With it’s AI Director and dynamic spawning it has captured the feel of a city over run with the undead and the shock factor of the unknown. Not since the original Resident Evil has the zombie been portrayed in such a fashion. No longer slow husks, like the latest film incarnations the Zombie is fast and vicious. There are also special infected with abnormal abilities which make them all the more deadly to face alone.

Left 4 Dead (2008)

Left 4 Dead (2008)

Finally with Dawn of the Dead it showed that even with the chaos of the undead rising. Mankind could survive, even if the ultimate end was unknown and escape might never be possible. It is these very things that resulted in me selecting the game type I have. The top down view like GTA lends itself to the maze like quality inherent in our city’s. The undead easily recognisable enemy’s makes it tense and enjoyable. There is no more motivation in them than to eat, the survivors motivation is to not be eaten. It’s as simple and easy for a player to get into without more information than necessary to clutter up the game play
